Teacher looted of cash at gunpoint in Angul

In a broad daylight robbery, unidentified miscreants looted cash and mobile phones from a school teacher at gunpoint on the Badahara forest road in Kaniha of the district on Tuesday.

Sources said the teacher of the Kumanda Jarasinga High School, Bijay Kumar Pradhan, was returning home on his motorcycle, when three motorbike- born miscreant hit the former’s bike deliberately from behind. When Bijay fell down, the miscreants looted Rs 15,000 cash and two mobile phones from him by brandishing guns. Bijay, who sustained injuries during the confrontation, was admitted to a hospital. Later, he lodged a complaint with the Kaniha police. Acting on the complaint, police began an investigation and are making efforts to trace and nab the three accused.
