Attemtping to fill vacant posts of Principals in aided and self-financed degree colleges, the state government simplified the selection process by allowing a person with 15 years of experience and a Doctorate degree, eligible for selection.
A decision to this effect and others were taken at a cabinet meeting held in lucknow on Tuesday.
Government spokesman Sidharthnath Singh said that among the eligibility criteria for selection of Principal, earlier a candidate oughtto have served as Assistant Principal or equivalent in any college before being considered.
“As of now, the government has decided to do away with this clause,” Singh said.
“The other criteria like the candidate should have a doctorate with published papers in reputed journals and 55 per cent marks in Post-Graduation stands. He should also have 15 years of experience of teaching in a reputed college,” the spokesman said. Justifying the government’s decision, Singh said that as the number of aided or self-financed colleges were high, it was difficult to get Principals for these institutions due to the clause of the candidate having served as Assistant Principal in any college. “Because of this, against 6500 posts of Principals in aided and self-financed colleges, over 3500 posts are lying vacant. This was hampering administrative and academic work of these institutions. Hence, the government decided to bring about the change,” the spokesman said. In another decision, the government decided to widen the road connecting lakhimpur Kheri with Dudhwa National Park to ease traffic flow in the area. The government spokesman said that despite Dudhwa National Park being a top tourist destination, the road linking it with the district headquarters was not wide enough and was hampering traffic flow.
“The cabinet approved the proposal to widen this 63.6 km long road and make it two-lane for which a total cost of Rs 250.19 crore would be incurred,” the spokesman said.
The cabinet also approved a proposal to transfer Irrigation department’s land in village Chittoda and Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar district to Agriculture department, free of cost, for setting up of Agriculture Science Centre for these villages.
“The land to be transferred in Chittoda is 5.72 hectares and in Khatauli, 6.69 hectares. The land, though belonged to Irrigation department, was set to be given to Power department to set up a hydro-power project. But as the Power department did not prepare any project, the government decided to give it to Agriculture department,” the spokesman said.
The cabinet also approved guidelines for management and operation of Bhadohi Carpet Expo Mart. The Mart will look at operation of shops and protect business interests of the people involved in it.
