The sixth generation of the Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri (TBZ) takes the lineage of the family business forward with the launch of Rajaswee by TBZ (Delhi)

Born into a family with a lineage of over 150 years, Rajaswee Zaveri, the granddaughter of Padmashree Kishorebhai Zaveri and the great-great-grand daughter of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri, is the sixth generation member to join the family enterprise of fashion jewelry. She recently revealed an exquisite preview of the new Bridal Collection of TBZ (Delhi) along with her own stand-out collection for the modern women—Rajaswee by TBZD.

“I have always been fascinated with the history of jewellery in our country; the craftsmanship, techniques and the various kinds of gems and metals that entail this industry. I am blessed to be born in a family where I had the opportunity to see different kinds of traditional and modern jewellery and study their intricate designs and patterns very closely.”

Rajaswee’s lineage has enabled her to look at things with detail and facilitated her education. After successfully completing the undergraduate course in visual arts and photography from the UK, she returned to India and opened her photography company—‘Kaiross’, which has completed a wide array of projects both commercial and artistic in a short span of time. It was during this period that she shot an advertisement for TBZD. “This shoot resulted in my understanding of the intricacies of jewellery and the keen interest led me to educate myself about the various types and cuts of diamonds, slowly progressing to grading and then their designing. The glitter and shine of gold and the possibilities of it working beautifully with diamonds were the natural progression of my thought process. The fact that I had a ready-made school in TBZD gave wings to the flight of my imagination and soon I was curating and consulting the brand’s jewellery pieces”, she said.

Her vision became clearer with her designs coming to life and thus resulted in the creation of her own line. TBZD has served its clients for generations and this addition to the lineage with a contemporary and modern outlook is expected to do justice to the rich legacy of excellence that the brand is known for. Rajaswee added, “The shifting relationship dynamic, women’s expanding roles in society and the changing perceptions of femininity are creating new motivations for jewellery acquisitions. I wanted to create a line of exquisite uncut diamond jewellery which is modern yet timeless, makes a statement yet is relatively affordable.” She further explained her line of thought and said that every woman more than once in her life, has felt the excruciating pain of aching ears while removing heavy earrings after a long day/night and she realised that for her collection of jewellery comfort and look for the wearer was the essential driving force. “Fashion can look and feel beautiful without being painful. I have always felt that simplicity and elegance is what appeals to my sense of aesthetics as a designer. While creating each piece in my collection, I wanted to make sure that my buyer is not restricted to a certain color or type of clothing while wearing the jewellery. I was attracted to the uncut diamonds for my line  because of the perfection that lies within their imperfections. It comes in all shapes and sizes, it’s a little rough around the edges but it is the toughest rock on earth and a statement of femininity,” explained Rajaswee.
