Monsoon delayed, but summer past its prime in Delhi

Even as monsoon is delayed in the national Capital by ten or twelve days from its normal onset date of June 29, the summer has passed its peak as the Regional Weather Department (Delhi wing) of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy days ahead.

Met in weekly weather forecast updated that Delhi will witness strong surface winds during day time on June 27, 28 and 29 while on Wednesday i.e June 26, light rain is predicted.

With the occurrence of thunderstorm, light rain, drizzle and surface winds, the maximum temperature throughout the week will fluctuate between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius while minimum temperature will oscillate between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius.

According to Skymet, after June 27, weather in Delhi would once again become dry and hot and temperatures would increase. As per weathermen, Delhi would have to wait for at least 14 days for monsoon to arrive in Delhi.

“Normal onset date of monsoon in Delhi is June 29. However, due to sluggish progress of Monsoon 2019, Delhi would have to wait and we expect Delhi monsoon to make an arrival between July 7 and 10,” said Skymet.

The IMD updated its five observatories for Delhi which are — Palam, Safadarjung, Aaynagar, Ridge, Delhi University and Narela.

Safadrjung is considered as official observatory for the national Capital. Here the maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 39 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was recorded 27.8 degrees Celsius.
