24 RMC cleaners get skill certificates

Twenty four cleaners of Ranchi Nagar Nigam on completion of cleanliness check in the city today were given certificates of cleaning skills. The skill certificate awarded to the workers of Nagar Nigam was arranged by the ‘Green Job’ Sector Skill Council. The certificate had its norms attached to the level-3 of National Skills Qualifications Framework.

In October last year Chief Minister Raghubar Das had called for a special skill check programme for the workers of Municipal Corporation during the ongoing national  “Swachhta Hi Seva Pakhwada” . Later the Green Job Skill Council ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ planted a module based on the initiative by the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society. On the basics of previous professional experiences on cleanliness welfare programme a special skill examination module of 12 hours was developed.

The Skill Examination programme for the workers of RMC was started on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, 2018. Under this exam the cleaners at work were stated to separately collect dry and wet waste, use of machines while doing the floor cleaning, classes explain the workers involved in bromming the length of the broom and the way to use a broom while cleaning where also given. Keeping the hygiene of the workers during their duty hours specific dresses for safety, gloves, mask and boots are not only given to the workers but a demo class for specifying the use of the above are also showed. The workers work at places where they could get seriously affected by the chemical contaminated wastes, thus they are also made aware about the various methods for their own safety.

The management of the skill development programme in the areas of RMC is given to the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society. Under this programme a total of 800 workers have been registered, 115 have been provided with the demo classes till date. 24 of the workers among them were given the certification of excellence in the presence of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and chief executive chairman of Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society. The workers who were certified will also be given an increment of Rs 500 per month.

Mayor Asha Lakra,, Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya, Health officer, Dr. Kiran Kumari, Chief Executive Officer, Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society, Amar Jha, Director, Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society Vinay Kumar and other officials were present on the this event of Skill Examination Certification programme.
