Create student-police committee at police stations: Governor

Thursday, 27 June 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Governor Anandiben Patel on Wednesday pitched for creation of a student-police committee in all police stations across the state.

She also suggested that a record of all schools falling under their jurisdiction should be maintained by all police stations.

The Governor issued the directives while carrying out an inspection of Kotwali police station in Raipur.

She opined that police must take care of their image and should make sure that victims coming to police station receive proper treatment and their complaints are quickly resolved.

“Police station staff should visit schools in their limits at least once or twice in a month and inform student about basic rules and laws while encouraging them to follow it. This will increase the mutual understanding between police and citizens,” the Governor said.

She also suggested that a tour of school students to jail should be arranged so that they may get first- hand knowledge about punishment and hardships in jail.

During the visit, the Governor was informed about CCTV surveillance. She told police officials to maintain a daily register of incidents recorded by CCTV cameras, which will be of great help for police officers in future.
