Differences in RJD camp; Subhash Yadav supports CPI(ML) in Koderma

Monday, 06 May 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

Fissures in RJD camp widens in Koderma as party Chatra candidate Subhash Yadav has decided to support  CPI (ML) candidate Raj Kumar Yadav, toeing a different line from party.  Koderma, the Lok Sabha  seat which borders Bihar is witnessing triangular contest between former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, RJD turn BJP candidate Annapurna Devi and CPI(ML) candidate Raj Kumar Yadav who is also MLA from Dhanwar.

The internal bickering within Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) which was in Chatra with both Congress and RJD putting up candidates, Manoj Yadav and Subhash Yadav respectively, has once again blown-up in Koderma with  RJD candidate from Chatra, Subhash Yadav pledging his support to CPI (ML) candidate Raj Kumar Yadav. However, the State RJD unit differs from Subhash.

State RJD general secretary and party spokesperson, Kailash Yadav said, “The party unit is with Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) in State and has decided to support Babulal Marandi the JVM (P) candidate.”

Yadav said, “The stand of Chatra candidate Subhash Yadav is his personal and the party does not agree with his stand. The party is with JVM (P), JMM and JMM candidates in State.”

Sources said that Subhash Yadav is against Babulal Marandi, as Marandi in Chatra had supported Congress candidate Manoj Yadav. The former chief minister had even held election meeting in support of Manoj Yadav. The JMM executive president Hemant Soren, however, had kept a distance in Chatra as he neither campaigned for Congress nor for RJD.

Subhash Yadav’s support to Raj Kumar Yadav assumes importance as the Koderma seat which borders Bihar has a sizeable population of Yadav. Subhash Yadav the Bihar businessman had business in Chatra and Koderma and his support to CPI (ML) candidate is likely to damage the prospects of Babulal Marandi.

The Chatra seat was one of the seats which had seen much infighting between grand alliance partners. As per seat sharing formula chalked out between four partners of grand alliance, out of 14 seats Congress was to contest seven seats, JMM four seats, JVM (P) two seats and RJD was given Palamu seat. However, RJD’s Subhash Yadav had staked claim in Chatra after he received blessing from RJD chief Lalu Prasad and Bihar former chief minister Rabri Devi for the seat.

The internal bickering within grand alliance in State is also evident as Bihar former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav had only campaigned for RJD candidates in Jharkhand. Tejashwi during first phase of polling had held election meeting in Palamu and Chatra for party candidates Ghuran Ram and Subash Yadav respectively. He had remained absent from campaigning for other grand alliance candidates.
