In the high profile case which saw three policemen seizing cash from a property dealer under the pretext of checks and seizures for the enforcement of election model code of conduct, the official SUV of Garhwal Inspector General (IG) Ajay Rautela has been seized by the police.
This action was taken after it was established by both the district police and Special Task Force (STF) that the SUV in question was indeed used at the time of incident which took place on the night of April 4.
The STF Additional Superintendent of Police Swatantra Kumar on Sunday told The Pioneer, “Yes, we have seized the government vehicle of Garhwal IG Ajay Rautela on Saturday night. Investigation is still going on in the case.”
It is important to mention here that the three accused policemen including sub-inspector Dinesh Negi, constable Himanshu Upadhya and Manoj Adhikari with Anupam Sharma were arrested on the night of April 16.
All four accused filed an application for bail in the court of chief judicial magistrate on Thursday.
Their application was rejected in the court of the CJM Vivek Srivastav on Saturday. The defendants are now planning to file an application for bail in the district court.
It is pertinent to mention here that the accused were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) on the night of April 16, after two days of interrogation.
Though the black bag in question has still not been found and Special Task Force (STF) is still uncertain about the contents of the said bag, senior officers of STF have hinted about
major leads that they are working on.
