Haryana Government on Tuesday said it has made implementation of DigiLocker   mandatory for all the government departments, boards, corporations, autonomous bodies, academic institutions and universities of the State

An official spokesman said that all departments and agencies in the State have also been directed to register themselves as an “issuer”/ “requester” organization on DigiLocker platform mandatorily according to their requirements and take necessary actions to integrate their web/mobile applications with DigiLocker platform for issuance/requisition of certificates.

Departments and agencies have been directed to take necessary steps to digitize legacy data of the documents and certificates available in the physical form, to make those available on DigiLocker platform.

The spokesman said the State Government has been making efforts to ensure that all documents and certificates issued in past and to be issued in future, would be made available on DigiLocker platform to the citizens.

The spokesman said that documents/certificates made available on DigiLocker platform by issuing Government departments, boards, corporations, autonomous bodies, academic institutions and universities in the State would be treated at par with physical copies that are accepted now.

Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication, Haryana would be the nodal agency for implementing DigiLocker in the state and providing handholding and necessary support to the government agencies for the implementation of same in the State.

The DigiLocker platform enables the authorized access of documents and certificates issued by an authority and verification of same anytime, anywhere in a digital format. The initiative has enabled citizens to go away with the need of carrying physical documents as most of digitally issued documents available on DigiLocker platform are accepted by authorities in their electronic form.
