A day after a video showing burning of a copy of the book ‘Chhabila Madhu Barnabodha’ went viral on social media linking Kosli poet Haldhar Nag with it, the Padma Shri awardee condemned the act on Friday.
The video, which had been posted on a YouTube channel in 2018, was shared on a Facebook page ‘Koshali Sahitya. In’ on Thursday. The post triggered controversy as it had a picture of Nag.
“Chhabila Madhu Barnabodha depicts the pride and identity of Odia language. Some ill-minded people are trying to defame me by using my picture in the page with torching of the book by some people,†said Nag.
He said he even doesn’t know what Facebook is. “I condemn those who have done such a mischief using my picture,†he added.
Meanwhile, after the post drew flak from all quarters on social media, the YouTube channel has deleted the post. Besides, the Facebook page Koshali Sahitya. In has also removed Nag’s picture.
