Nath to participate in World Tribal Day programme

Chief Minister Kamal Nath will participate in a State-level programme in Chhindwara and Jhabua on Friday on the occasion of World Tribal Day. Tribal Welfare Minister Omkar Singh Markam will preside over the programme.

Cultural programmes will be presented by 3 excellent folk dance groups at the state-level programme. Information will also be given about the programmes being run in the state for tribal welfare. A community lunch will be organized on this occasion.

Rani Durgavati and Shankar Shah award will be given to tribal meritorious students of Class Xth and XIIth in the development programme in all district headquarters and 89 development block headquarters on World Tribal Day.

Sports persons belonging to tribal community will be awarded for outstanding performance in national and international sports.

Under the Pratibha Yojana, talented tribal students selected in national level educational institutions like IIT, IIM and NLU will be benefited.

The tribal students selected in the Union Public Service Commission examination will also be honoured.

There will be cultural programmes on rare tribal instruments in district and block level.

There will also be a speech and essay competition focused on the contribution of the tribal community to the freedom movement.

Commissioner Tribal Development has issued instructions to all district and block officers about the programmes.

The state government has declared a public holiday in the state on August 9 on Tribal Development Day.
