On the occasion of late Biju Patnaik's 103rd birthday, the Eastern India Oil Refinery Workers’ Union would organise a mega blood donation camp on March 1 and 2 at Zero Point here. Union president Santosh Kumar Pattnaik presided over a preparatory meeting for the purpose. Union general secretary Padma Lochan Dash spoke about the importance of blood donation for the needy patients. Vice-president Manindra Guru and working president Dilip Kumar Behera and Paradip Port Land Losers Farmers’ Association president Chinmaya Das emhasised on successful holding of this Jeevan Bindu (blood donation) programme.
President Santosh Pattnaik recalled that by God’s grace and blood donors’ cooperation the union had collected a whopping 4,006 units blood on October 24 and 25, 2017 which was highest blood collection in the entire State. For this, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik praised the union and felicitated it with a memento and a certificate. President Pattnaik sought help from all the nine organisations led by him to make the coming blood donation camp a grand success. He informed that State Planning Board Deputy Chairman Bishnu Das, Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena, Jevan Bindu programme chief coordinator and MLA Debasish Samantaray and coordinator Bijay Nayak and Balikuda-Erasama MLA Prasanta Muduli have been invited for inaugural function of the programme. For the concluding day, Finance, Excise and Agriculture Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, Biju Sramik Kalyan Board Chairman Subash Singh and several other eminent persons have given their consent to join.
