Punjab government would develop 5 villages of every block as per the Seechewal Model which involves cleaning of the village ponds, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said on Wednesday.
Bajwa said that under the Seechewal Model, the project of cleaning the ponds in the villages would be taken up. Besides this, in case the NRI Punjabi diaspora wants to connect with the scheme in order to transform and beautify their villages, then they would be more than welcome.
The Panchayat Minister said that as per the suggestion given by the Group Members, the right to change the objectives of any grant should be permitted at the district level, he assured the members that this issue would be discussed with the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh. He said that all the members of committee were on same pitch on this issue.
Bajwa said that more than 9 lakh people have benefited during the camps organised under the Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna in the state. He further said that to streamline this scheme CM Consultative group members are of the view that instead of organising these camps on the Monthly basis these camps should be organised on quarterly basis.
"Mobile AAP is being developed to provide all information regarding all schemes under the Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojan and all the beneficiaries would be able to know their status on the AAP," added Bajwa.
The Panchayat Minister said that development works under MNREGA are at full swing in the state, but he also stated there would be no compromise in quality under any scheme and zero tolerance against corruption.
