Swine flu on Thursday claimed one more life in Gwalior.

The deceased, 45 year old Najim, a resident of Gwalior died during treatment at the Apollo Hospital, Delhi.

Earlier, Najim was admitted at the Sahara Hospital in Gwalior as he was suffering from heavy diabetics.

As his condition worsened the doctors there referred him to Apollo Hospital, Delhi where he was tested positive for swine flu.

The authorities at Apollo Hospital said that the patient was admitted to their hospital on Saturday evening in an advanced stage of diabetics and as the patient was not responding to the treatment tests were conducted which confirmed he had swine flu.

A week back a thirty year old lady from Gwalior, Archana Rathore too had died of swine flu during treatment at the Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi.

Talking to the media persons, Dr Mudul Saxena, CMHO of Gwalior said that the patient who had died of swine flu was suffering from heavy diabetics and as such was not responding to treatment.

He further said that test results of 4 suspected swine flu patients are being awaited.

The district administration has given instructions to hospitals and health officials to remain alert.

Cautioning the public Dr Saxena said that as this flu is spread through person to person contact the infection spreads when a healthy person comes in contact with an infected one.

He advised the public to maintain hygiene by washing hands frequently with soap and water.

He also said that touching the eyes, nose or mouth without washing the hands must be totally avoided. The CHO added that a doctor must be consulted immediately if flu like symptoms are found.
