Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday said the academic session in all engineering colleges and polytechnics under the administrative control of Technical Education department was running as per schedule.

There are three technical universities, 14 government-aided affiliated engineering colleges, 600 private engineering colleges, 147 government-run polytechnics, 19 government-aided polytechnics, 1,117 private polytechnics and six polytechnics owned and run by other government departments under the administrative control of the Technical Education department.

Technical Education Minister Ashutosh Tandon said here on Wednesday that the total number of students in the institutions imparting technical education leading to the award degree and diplomas was 2.25 lakh. 

He said despite the huge number of students, the results of engineering colleges were declared within 30 days of the examination and of the polytechnics, within 45 days.

Tandon said that even in a big state like UP, the academic session in all the engineering colleges and polytechnics was regular and degrees and diplomas were being awarded as per the schedule  and degrees and diplomas were being awarded and campus placements of students was also taking place. 

The minister said his department had taken up the responsibility of placement of the students on war footing. He said university-industry interface cell had been set up by the department to expedite the process of placement of students after they obtained degree and diploma. He said so far 20,000 students have got placement.

The minister said that so far three branches of Madan Mohan Malviya Technical University, four of HBTU, one UP Textile Technology Institute have received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for technical institutes.

He said the Technical Education department had set a target of getting NBA accreditation for all the government-run and government-aided technical institutions by 2022.
