It seems Cuttack city is fast turning into a big manufacturing hub of FMCG products like edible oil, spices ghee and other daily-use items.
In yet another glaring example in three days, an adulterated ghee manufacturing unit was busted by the Commissionerate police led by city DCP Prateek Singh at Jagatpur on Monday.
The police also arrested two persons and seized items worth over Rs 1 crore. “We have seized goods worth over Rs 1 crore and further investigation are underway,” said police .The officials also seized chemicals used for making the adulterated ghee, production machines, packing materials and labels of different brands from the factory.
“In the last two months, Cuttack police have detected 15 adulterated food processing units which were running without authorisation and have seized duplicate goods worth Rs 4.50 crore. Besides, 16 persons have been arrested during the period. These units were producing ghee, turmeric , honey, chilly powder, spices, sauce and other products by mixing harmful and cancer causing chemicals,” said the DCP.
