Police recovered the bodies of a 25-year- old woman and her one year old  son from a well in Khirodih village, under Gawa police station in Giridih, on Sunday morning, the tragedy bringing forth two contradictory arguments.

While the woman’s mother Chameli Devi alleged her mother in-law, father in law and her sister in-law killed them over dowry and then threw them in the well, the mother-in-law claimed she committed suicide with her son.

Puspa Devi committed suicide by jumping into the well in Khirodih village along with her one-year-old son, according to police.

While the villagers said she committed suicide, the woman’s mother alleges murder.According to her brother, she was tortured by her in-laws family members and was killed along with her son and the bodies were dumped into the well later.

According to reports, Gawan Circle Inspector P. Leyangi, police in Charge Vijay Karkatta reached the village and took the bodies out of the well and started investigating. Police sources said that a 25-year-old deceased Puspa Devi alias Pramila Devi, wife of Ramesh Yadav and her one year old son Rishi Kumar had been missing since July 31 night.

In relation to the incident, the mother of the deceased Chameli Devi told media persons that her daughter was constantly tortured by her entire family members except her husband who has been working as cook at house of a film actress in Mumbai.

On July 31 night, there was a fight over some issues, after which the deceased had been missing with her son since night, added her mother Chameli Devi.

But on Sunday morning her body was found along with the son from the well. Her mother alleges that her father  in law, mother in law and sister in law killed my daughter and her son and threw their dead bodies in the well.

However, the Gawan police station has taken further action by recovered the bodies in its possession

While father in  law claimed Puspa Devi  had a heated argument on July 3,2020 night and left home with her son saying she would go to her mother house.

Giridih SP said they were looking into the mother’s allegations.

A month ago, in gruesome incident a woman killed herself with her three children by setting themselves on fire at Putrekh Khurd village under Parsan police station area in Giridih district. In this case, a mother had locked her three children in a box and burnt them alive.

While other incident also had happened within limits of Gawan police station area last month when dead bodies of a woman with her three daughters were found in the village well.

Police have registered a case (111/20) at Gawan police station against her in-laws family members under Section 302,201,and 34 of IPC.
