Thursday, 21 May 2020 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

There is a sudden spurt in invocation of section 323 and 325 of IPC in lock down in Palamu. Section 323 and 325 of IPC deal with cases where hurt has been caused and caused grievously respectively.

Sources said with migrants coming in great numbers here family ties are getting thinner and thinner.

Officer in charge of Manatu police station Santosh Kumar Singh said, “There is a sudden rise in cases of causing hurt among the families. During the lockdown this rise is too great. We invoke 323 and 325 sections of IPC where intentional hurt is caused.”

Singh said such hurting is done both by sarcastic tones and physically too on simple pretext and our police station Manatu is getting more number of such cases arising from disagreement or feud or discontent among the family members.

OC Manatu said from this January to March our Manatu police station had no case of suicide but from April 01 to May 18 Manatu police station has registered 7 cases of suicide as in one case police had to send a man to jail for abetment of suicide.

SP Palamu Ajay Linda said, “I have directed my OCs and other police officials to deal with family tension/ feud/ hurting cases in the family with great sensitivity as it is lock down and family’s traumas in villages are too enormous.”

Linda said between March 25 down to May 18 this district has seen 18 cases of suicide which is a record high incidents if one takes into account the cases of suicidal deaths in the corresponding months in the year 2019,2018 etc.

“Uncertainty, hazy future, clutter of such news which is most noisy and at times depressive all have an impact on family lives here where the adults , the youths, the women and the children look the other way,” said the SP.

Officer in charge of Chainpur police station Sunit Kumar said during this lock down there has been 5 cases of suicidal death under his Chainpur police station.

SDPO Hussainabad Vijay Kumar said there have been two cases of suicide in this lock down where a girl ended her life when she found her boy had betrayed her and one mentally unsound man who consumed pesticide and ended his life.

SDPO Sadar Sandip Kumar Gupta said, “Migrants are almost dying to come home but it is equally important for them to live in peace with other members of their families.”

SDPO Lesliganj Anup Baraik said two inmates one undergoing institutional quarantine and the other home quarantine committed suicide in the respective quarantine centres much to everyone’s shock and bewilderment.

SDPO Bishrampur Surjit Kumar said his police sub division has seen two suicidal deaths in the lock down.

Linda said, “It is high time when elders and well meaning people of the society should spread message of value of family life which stands fragile in lock down.”
