A man was booked for forging a pass to overcome restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 lockdown in Simga block in Chhattisgarh's Baloda Bazar district, officials said here on Saturday.

“Bhaskar Payasi had forged the seal and signature of the Simga Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM). Using this forged document, he travelled to Jabalpur,” a local police officer said.

A FIR has been filed on a complaint from SDM Dhaniram Ratre.

Bhaskar has been booked under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 472 and 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 3 of Epidemic Act 1897.

“Bhaskar made the pass on May 11 for the vehicle CG 07 BS 5656,” the SDM said, adding that his action carried the risk of spreading the coronavirus pandemic.
