Saturday, 04 April 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) completed its last phase of sanitising the city by disinfecting seven wards on Friday.

A special sanitisation drive was commenced by the municipal corporation from April 1 in order to reduce the risk of community infection of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) among the residents of Dehradun. In its first and second phase, 36 and 45 wards were sanitised respectively with more than one lakh litre of disinfectant. In the third phase on Friday, the MCD disinfected seven wards spraying 45,400 litres of one percent hypochlorite solution with the help of three tanks, 40 spray machines and 20 motor machines.

The task of sanitisation was completed in the morning shift under the appointed nodal officers.

Till now, the MCD has thoroughly sanitised total 88 wards out of 100. According to Dehradun deputy municipal commissioner Rohitash Sharma, the remaining 12 wards had been sanitised just before the commencement of the sanitisation drive, therefore only 88 wards were sanitised during the drive. He added that besides this drive, the corporation will keep sanitising the city regularly till the threat of COVID-19 continues to persist.
