SDMC takes action against unauthorised constructions

The building department of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) took an action against the unauthorised constructions in various areas including Chhattarpur Enclave, Khirki Extension, Panchsheel Vihar, Greater Kailash-II, Lado sarai, Toot Sarai and demolished eight properties.

A senior SDMC official said a separate demolition teams were constituted to take action and overcome the tendency of unauthorized constructions.  “Two properties each in C block Chhattarpur enclave and one property each in Khirki Extension, Panchsheel Vihar, Greater Kailash-II, Lado sarai,Toot Sara was demolished,” he said.

The official said that necessary precautions from COVID-19 point of view have been taken by the department while undertaking such demolition and sealing actions.

The building department has been taking action against unauthorized constructions for demolition under provisions of the DMC Act 1957.  “The department has also been issuing notices to the unscrupulous builders, as it has been observed that such builders were targeting the gullible citizens of getting them more habitable space at cheaper cost without getting the building plan sanctioned,” he said.

During the last one month, the department has taken 71  demolition actions and sealing actions against unauthorized constructions in Chhattarpur Enclave, Greater Kailash-II, Lado sarai,Toot Sarai Panchsheel Vihar, Khirki Extension, Chattarpur Pahari and Chitranjan Park.
