A 33-year old man, a resident of Hallomajra on Wednesday died from coronavirus in Chandigarh as 249 fresh cases pushed the infection count to 25,130 in the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana. According to a health bulletin, the number of people who died from the infection in the union territory has reached 365 on Wednesday. The number of active cases rose to 2178 on Wednesday, the bulletin said.
A total of 136 patients were discharged after they recovered from the infection, taking the number of cured persons to 22,587, it said. So far, 298,087 samples have been taken for testing, of which 2,71,952 tested negative while reports of 149 are awaited, it said.
