The Central government on Wednesday presented an award to Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district for securing the top rank in the country in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar presented the award at a programme organized in New Delhi on the occasion of the completion of two years of the scheme.
Bilaspur Collector Dr. Saransh Mittar and State Nodal Officer of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana G.K. Nirmam received the award.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey congratulated the farmers and the Bilaspur administration over the achievement.
Baghel said the state government is working for the welfare of farmers and the award showed that Chhattisgarh is becoming a role model for the country in farmer welfare.
It was ruled that Bilaspur is the best performing district in the country in terms of Aadhaar authentication to provide benefits to the farmers under the scheme.
In Bilaspur district, 9,310 farmers have benefited under the scheme.
In 2019, Bilaspur won the National Water Award for the conservation and restoration of rivers.
