Chandigarh witnesses a surge in Covid cases

With the city witnessing a surge in Covid-19 positive cases over the past one week, the fresh cases again crossed 100-mark on Tuesday.  105 fresh infections took the total case tally to 22502 in Chandigarh. The active cases till the evening stood at 778.

On Saturday, 122 cases were reported in the city.   Meanwhile, no new fatality was reported in the last 24 hours and the death toll stood at 356 in the city, according to the Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin.  In the last 24 hours, a maximum of 12 fresh cases surfaced in Sector 46 followed by nine in Sector 40 and seven in Sector 21.

 2.70 lakh samples have so far been tested in the city in which 1914 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

4 DEATHS, 336 NEW CASES IN HARYANA

Haryana reported four more Covid-19 fatalities on Tuesday which took the death toll to 3,062 while the infection count rose to 2,73,087 with 336 fresh cases, a health department bulletin said.  One fatality each was reported from Hisar, Ambala, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts, according to the bulletin.  Among the fresh cases, 75 were reported from Gurugram district, 53 from Karnal, 44 from Panchkula and 40 from Ambala district. The number of active cases in the state is 2,263 and the recovery rate is 98.05 per cent, as per the bulletin.
