One Covid-19 death, 214 fresh cases in Chandigarh

A 52-year-old woman, resident of Dhanas died from coronavirus in Chandigarh on Tuesday as 214 fresh cases pushed the infection count to 24,881 in the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana.  According to a health bulletin, the number of people who died from the infection in the union territory has reached 364. The number of active cases rose to 2066 on Tuesday, the bulletin said.  A total of 126 patients were discharged after they recovered from the infection, taking the number of cured persons to 22,451, it said.  So far, 2,96,079 samples have been taken for testing.

Meanwhile, in view of the surge of active cases of Covid-19, the DM, Chandigarh, Mandip Singh Brar said restrictions have been imposed in the city and the maximum number for indoor gathering will be 100 or 50 per cent of the capacity of the venue whichever is lower. For outdoor activity, the maximum number will be 200 or 50 per cent of the capacity of the venue.

4 DEATHS, 157 FRESH CASES IN HIMACHAL

Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday reported 157 fresh COVID-19 cases and four deaths.   “The death toll reached 1012 while the total case tally crossed 61000-mark and stood at 61035 in the state,” stated Himachal’s evening health bulletin.  In the last 24 hours, two deaths each were reported in Kangra and Una.

There were 1455 active cases in the state till the evening. Of the 157 fresh cases, a maximum of 57 were reported in Una followed by 27 in Hamirpur.  So far, 58550 people have recovered from the virus in the state. 83 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, it said.  So far, over 12.11 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state, the bulletin added.
