A high-level inquiry is going on in the VIMSAR, Burla on the instruction of Anti Ragging Cell (ARC) New Delhi on the matter of ragging of some students in second year by their seniors in fourth year.
However, the institute has kept everything a secret till now including the students who alleged before the ARC New Delhi. As per information, some second year students of VIMSAR Burla alleged before the ARC New Delhi that they were frequent victims of ragging by the fourth year students.
And immediately, the ARC asked the Principal cum Dean of the institution to conduct an inquiry in the matter and send its report including taking hard steps to curb such ugly practices.“After getting the letter, we have started conducting an inquiry into the incident by the anti ragging committee.
Once we get the report we will take action and intimate the matter to New Delhi,” said Dr Jayashree Dora, the newly appointed Dean of the institution.
Of course, she declined to disclose other details. In the meantime, a section of senior students of VIMSAR has denied the charge and alleged that there was a move to tarnish the image of the institution at the national level. “If at all there was ragging, why the junior students informed the ARC New Delhi instead of the local authorities here who are very strict on the matter,” they asked.
