SAIL, CET arranges talk on blockchain technology

A session on “Blockchain & Crypto - Applications for Steel Industry” was organized by Centre for Engineering & Technology, Ranchi (CET), the in-house project consultant of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

The session was hosted by Jagdish Arora, Executive Director, CET and the guest speaker was Rohit Tripathy, founder of Ranchi Mall, a Blockchain incorporated entity, which has been set up as a virtual mall that sells unique and innovative products.

Rohit Tripathy, the blockchain entrepreneur introduced this new age technology to the audience and also talked about its impending impact on governments and industries, including the Steel Industry, in the times to come. He explained the basics of the technology, its unstoppability and uncorrputability. He delineated the application of blockchain in varied fields such as finance, vendor management, sourcing & tracking of origins and raw materials, research and corporate social responsibility, to name a few.

The session was webcast live over online platform, where more than 140 SAIL executives from CET, Research & Development Centre for Iron & Steel, Ranchi, Corporate Office, New Delhi, Central Marketing Organization & SAIL Steel Plants, etc. participated and interacted with the guest speaker.

The session was made lively and highly interactive by the host Arora and variety of questions from the diverse audience from Tripathy on technical and financial aspects as well as on its implementability.

SAIL, CET will continue to arrange such talks on its knowledge portal, going forward too.
