Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said that the country's first skill university established by the State Government to provide the youth with education while honing their skills is proving to be a milestone.

The Chief Minister was in Palwal to attend the third foundation day programme of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University. He also reviewed the progress of the ongoing works in the University.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of this University with the goal of providing skill-related education to the youth as per the need of the times. This University will prove to be a milestone in taking forward the Prime Minister's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaign, he said.

Khattar said that there is a need to understand the difference between studies and skills. Only skill can take the nation, society and nation forward, he said.

He further said that by the year 2030, 12,000 skilled youth will graduate every year from the University. At present, 4,000 skilled youths are being imparted skills every year in the University. He also said that every industry should start skill related courses and affiliate themselves with this University, so that students get maximum employment.

The University is working with an industry integrated 'Earn-While Learn' model, which provides opportunities to the students to study as well as earn. It provides exposure to the students by exposing them to the world of real employment, so that they can get better employment in future, he added.

It was informed that the University is entering into MoUs with Maruti India Limited, Reliance, Healthians, and Anand Group to explore the possibility of developing customized programmes for employees of industries and conducting skill upgradation programmes through its Centre of Excellence.
