The State Transport Authority (STA) has signed an MoU with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) for implementation of a Smart Queue Management System. After implementation of the system, applicants would need not to stand in queue for availing various services at RTOs in the State.
In the first phase, the project would be implemented in Angul, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Bhubaneswar-1, Cuttack, Ganjam, Puri, and Driving Testing Track at RTO-2, Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of Rs 2.18 crore. The new system would be gradually implemented in other RTOs. The Smart Queue Management System would improve the citizens’ experience in the RTOs.
Applicants can book the slot in advance through online portal or can come directly to RTOs for different services related to vehicle and driving licence . When an applicant comes directly, a token will be generated at the office. The citizens need not stand in queues.
They can comfortably sit inside the office for their turn. There would be display systems at all the counters to announce the token numbers. The applicants can know the approximate waiting time for getting the service through predictive forecasting by the system. The citizens will receive notification for their service from time to time. Besides, the vehicle owners can now avail services like renewal of Registration Certificate (RC), transfer of ownership and change of address in any RTO across the State without paying any additional fee.
However, applicants would have to pay a nominal fee for renewal of Driving Licence (DL) in any RTO.“To avail the services, people have to link their mobile number and verify vehicle details in any RTO of the State, irrespective of registration in any RTO,†said a STA notifiction. “If mobile number of the vehicle owner is not registered or incorrect in the VAHAN database, the owner can update the same on the official website. The detail procedure to update mobile number is available in the website,†the STA stated.
