Three actors from Jharkhand Film and Theatre Academy (JFTA) will be seen playing prominent roles in the first season of the Alt Balaji and Zee5 web series titled Farrey slated to release in the last week of February. The JFTA actors Rajeev Sinha, Monika Rani and Rishi Kant will be seen sharing the screen with veterans like Anupriya Goneka, Nakul Sahdev and Aadesh Chaudhary. The series also features as many as 26 actors from the academy in character roles.

Inspired from real life incidents, the 10- episode series is based on the medical examination scam of Bihar. The series has been directed by Syed Ahmad Afzal known for Bollywood film like Youngistaan and Laal Rang and created by Zeeshan Quadri of Gangs of Wasseypur fame. The entire web series has been shot at various locations in Ranchi including Birsa Jail, ISM College Pundag and Birsa Munda Airport.

Ranchi based Rajeev Sinha founder of JFTA plays the character of Bhushan Dev Kumar in Farrey. “I play the CEO of Rana Don’s (Nakul Sahdev) pharma company and am basically his right hand man. When the don is arrested I am the one who not only handles his business but also helps his lawyer in solving the case,” said Sinha.

“This is the first time that I have been a part of a web series and it was a great learning opportunity. The story line is very realistic which gives the actors a lot of scope to show their skills. Apart from that sharing the screen with local as well as well known actors from Bollywood was also like a dream come true,” added Sinha.

Monika Rani (24) from Ranchi plays the role of Harshita- the Don’s sister. “My character in the series is also of around 25- years of age. I play the role of a girl coming from a conservative middle class family. Though I don’t say much in the serial, my role portrays the bond between siblings and shows how for the happiness of a recently married sister, the brother decides to marry a girl of her choice. Being a part of a web series for Alt Balaji has been a dream come true for me. This has also taught me that no matter whether you are a big or a small actor, everyone deserves equal respect.”

Rani is a theatre actor with JFTA and has featured in documentary dramas titled Hassey toh Phassey and Kanoon Zinda Hai which have both been aired on DD Jharkhand.

Rishi Kant hailing from Bokaro is a theatre performer with JFTA and has been involved with the academy for the past two years. “My character Gopal is that of a milkman’s son, It shows how in spite of being a class IV dropout and having no formal education, Gopal gets involved in the medical exam scam being run by Rana Don and gets a chance to appear for the entrance exam,” said the actor about his character.

“This is the first time I am working under such a big banner. This has also taught me hard work and patience are two virtues everyone must possess as they eventually pay off,” remarked the actor who features in the JFTA film called Gilua which is the post production stage.

The other actors from the academy who will be seen in the web series include Lalit Saw, Arun Singh, Shalini Gupta, Ayush Sharma and Deepak Kataria among others.
