With the stress on fairness and transparency in recruitments in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath on Sunday announced to invoke Gangster and NSA against those involved in the UPTET-2021 paper leak. The paper was cancelled within minutes it was leaked through WhatsApp on Sunday.

“Those who are involved in this misdeed must know that a case is being registered against them under Gangster Act, and their property will be confiscated along with imposition of National Security Act,” the CM said while addressing a public gathering in Deoria.

Sending a note of warning to all those who tend to vitiate the transparent recruitment process, the CM said: “If someone is trying to play with the life of youth, they should be aware of the consequences. Be it a job or any test, utmost transparency must be maintained. The current government has given jobs to more than 4.5 lakh youths in Uttar Pradesh with full transparency and the process will continue in the same vein.”

Meanwhile, the CM also assured the aspirants that the exam would be held in a transparent manner within a month. “No extra fee will be taken from any examinee, and the government will arrange for their movement through UPSRTC buses free of cost,” he added.

Following the paper leak, the state government cancelled the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test  (UPTET) 2021 exam. The government made it clear that the examinees would not have to fill any form and submit application fees when the test is conducted in a month’s time.

“UPTET-2021 examination scheduled to be held today stands cancelled due to paper leak. Dozens of suspects have been detained by the STF in this regard and the investigation is on. The UP government will conduct the exam again within a month,” Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Law and Order, Prashant Kumar said.

The exam, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, was cancelled following reports of paper leak in Mathura, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Bulandshahr.

“Few photocopies of the question papers were found from those arrested. STF will probe the case and take action against those found guilty,” Kumar said. He added that taking swift action, the UP STF arrested around 23 suspects from different cities — four from Lucknow, three from Meerut, and two each from Varanasi & Gorakhpur. One suspect was arrested from Kaushambi and 13 from Prayagraj, the ADG said.

The government has also made arrangements that examinees returning to their homes will not have to pay for the bus expenses. They will get the free facility in UPSRTC buses on showing admit cards.

The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) will conduct UPTET in a month’s time. The government will bear the entire expenditure on the re-examination, ACS, UPBEB, Deepak Kumar said.

The UPBEB has further notified that candidates will not have to pay any fees again for the exam. The exact date will be notified in due course of time.
