The Chairman of Coal India Limited (CIL) Pramod Agarwal has called upon students of IIT - ISM to work for development of new technologies suitable for future mines operations.
He inaugurated on Thursday evening Mining engineering facilities, fests, exhibitions besides the Coal India Limited(CIL) Innovation and Incubation Centre, a Tech Expo featuring innovative mining automation related products and also launching of the biggest Geo Mining Fest of the country, Khanan’22 in campus here in presence of a host senior officials of company and its subsidiaries.
Talking to the media after the inauguration of the Coal India Innovation and Incubation Centre the chairman said, "Some of the technologies developed here at centre and also at TEXMiN are quite useful and interesting and have the potential to help in improving mining operation."
He said ,"We started the centre at IIT (ISM) with the aim of developing such technologies which will help in automation in mining sector".The CIL chairman later also interacted with the mining startups and early innovators during tea at NVCTI conference room situated at the same I2H Building and took details of projects on which they and working.
IIT (ISM) Director, Prof Rajeev Shekhar and Deputy Director, Dhiraj Kumar too were present.
The CIL Innovation and Incubation Centre, established at Institute Innovation Hub (I2H Building also known as CRE Building) with the financial support of mining major, Coal India Limited (CIL) is meant to nurture early innovators to ideate in the domain of Technology Innovation and Community Skill Development in the business areas of Coal India Limited (CIL) and also promoting economically viable startups through pre incubation.
Professor Dhiraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT (ISM) said, “The technologies and products developed by TEXMiN which were displayed during the expo are aimed to achieve Mining 4.0 or Digital Mining which is the need time in view of the increasing demand of Mining companies to reduce the operating cost and also to achieve Safe, Smart and Sustainable mining."
Chief Executive Officer of TEXMiN, Suraj Kumar said, “During the interaction with the innovators he discussed such areas of automation which require their intervention in the form of Research for automation and digitalizationâ€.
A host of technical events, panel discussions, lectures by eminent personalities are scheduled during the next three days fromNovember 4 to 6 as part of Khanan ’22 which is being organized by IIT (ISM) in Association with TEXMiN and CIL Innovation centre.
