With the help of the C-Vigil app created by the Election Commission of India (ECI), citizens can inform the department about any violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) that has happened near them in the form of audio, video or photo. On this the team of ECI will take cognizance within 100 minutes and ensure action. As 'C-VIGIL' itself means vigilant citizens and the active and responsible role that citizens can play in the conduct of free and fair elections.
Election Commission officials said that common citizens can download this C-Vigil app by visiting Google's Play Store. After downloading this app, one has to register your mobile number through OTP, then it can be used as per the need.
Citizen Vigil App for complaints related to violation of MCC such as display of guns, threatening, provocative speech, paid news, distribution of gifts, free transport, spreading of fake news, distribution of property, distribution of money, distribution of liquor and others.
As soon as the related video, audio or photo is uploaded on this app, their live location is received by the Vigilance team of the Commission. Taking quick action, the team sends the flying squad team to the spot, which investigates the matter and takes prompt action.
Any alert citizen can also use the main website of ECI to register a case of violation of MCC. Along with this, you can inform the Commission about your complaints by calling the National Contact Center 1800111950 and State Contact Center 1950.
Meanwhile, a voter awareness campaign is being run continuously for the participation of maximum voters in the Mandar assembly by-election 2022. Various programs are being organized under Sweep in all the 5 blocks of Mandar assembly constituency. In this sequence, on June 13, a Prabhat Pheri was taken out by the students of Government Zed Plus Two High School, Lapung. While passing through different areas of the area, the students made the voters aware and called for voting in maximum numbers in the upcoming assembly by-election on June 23.
