A new record was set by Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway in the field of freight loading. In the current financial year 2022-23 till date 08.11.2022, 100 million tonnes of goods have been loaded in just 221 days. This achievement was achieved in the year 2020-21 in 288 days while in 2021-22 in 245 days.
This freight loading done by Dhanbad division is the highest freight loading among all the divisions of Indian Railways. As on 08.11.2022, the other leading freight loading divisions of Indian Railways are Khurda Road Division, 93.06 MT, Bilaspur Division 92.98 MT and Chakradharpur Division 85.09 MT.
It may be noted that in the last financial year till the same period, 90.24 million tonnes were loaded by Dhanbad division, 91.04 million tonnes by Khurda Road division, 92.98 million tonnes by Bilaspur division and 86.38 million tonnes by Chakradharpur division.
In the 100.27 MT freight loading done by Dhanbad Division till 08.11.22, coal was the largest contributor with 96.31 MT. Along with this, during this period, about 04 million tonnes of goods were loaded by Dhanbad division of cement, clinker, iron and steel, bauxite, red mud, stone chips, fly ash etc.
