Order CBI probe monitored by HC judge in UKSSSC leak case- Mahara

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has demanded that a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe monitored by a sitting judge of the High Court should be ordered in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) examination paper leak case.

In a letter written to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the PCC president said that the exposures in the UKSSSC paper leak case have tarnished the image of Uttarakhand. Demanding a CBI probe under the monitoring of a HC judge, Mahara said that it is surprising that no action has so far been taken against the former chairmen of the commission RBS Rawat and S Raju. In the letter Mahara said that in April 2016, serious allegations were levelled against the then chairman by two members of commission in the VPDO recruitment. The PCC president recalled that he himself had raised the issue in the State Assembly on which the then Parliamentary Affairs minister the late Prakash Pant had accepted that corruption in recruitment had occurred and that the answer sheets were tampered with. Mahara said that despite serious allegations no action was taken against RBS Rawat. He said that in the cases of 2016 and 2022 it is clear that the chairman of the commission should be the first person to be held accountable. Mahara said that actual culprits of the scams would not be exposed till action on former chairmen (Rawat and Raju) is not taken.
