Uttar Pradesh Minister of Agriculture, Agriculture Education and Agricultural Research Surya Pratap Shahi on Wednesday asked the officials to implement government schemes in a proper way to benefit the farmers.
While reviewing the progress of schemes he asked the officials concerned to ensure adequate availability of seeds and fertiliser to the farmers and to monitor its sale regularly. The officials were directed to publicise the MSP scheme properly and chalk out such a strategy so that maximum purchase of grain can be done at the government-run purchase centres. He asked the officials to motivate farmers for farming of millets in areas where there is a shortage of irrigation water. He asked the officials to distribute mini kits to small farmers through people’s representatives. The meeting was attended by MLAs Ratnakar Mishra and Rama Shankar Singh Patel, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, Chairman Nagar Palika Parishad Mirzapur Shyam Sundar Keshari and other officials concerned. The minister during his day-long tour visited the BHU South Campus and distributed kits to 100 farmers. He also attended other programmes in the district.
GANJA RECOVERED: The Vindhyachal police arrested four accused of drug smuggling and recovered one quintal of ganja worth Rs 45 lakh on Tuesday.
Vindhyachal station house officer (SHO) was tipped off by an informer about the transportation of drug.
The police team led by SHO Arvind Mishra succeeded in catching the miscreants near Kamapur. Diromg interrogation they divulged that the ganja was being transported from Bihar and was to be delivered in Prayagraj. After registering a case under relevant sections the police arrested four persons and seized the vehicles.
The accused were identified as Amiruddin Ansari and Dharmendra Kumar of Tori under Bhagwanpur police station, Kaimur, Bhabhua, Bihar, Indra Bahadur Singh of Rajpur and Ajai Kumar Singh of Basaha Barokhar.
SHOT DEAD: A youth was shot dead in an area under Jigna police station on Wednesday. About one dozen people, including the victim, were present in Karni Bhawaan village when suddenly motorcycle-borne miscreants reached the spot and opened the fire on Vivek Singh alias Vikky (22) of Bhilgaur under Jigna police station.
The victim was brought to the divisional hospital in a critical condition where the doctors declared him as brought dead.
DIG RP Singh and other police authorities reached the spot and issued the necessary directions to the cops in connection to maintain law and order situation.
SP Abhinandan said a named FIR had been registered against Abhimanyu Singh, Vivek Singh alias Mutthu and Akhilesh Singh of Kotaha Gaura under Jigna police station. Taking the incident seriously the SP has issued a suspension order against the SO and others. The suspended personnel are SO RK Mishra, sub-inspector Rajendra Ram, beat constables Sarvesh Kumar and Komal Pal
TRAFFIC PROHIBITED: The administration has prohibited traffic on Shastri bridge for six hours on Friday, a communique said.
District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan said after repair of the bridge its load test was required hence she has ordered to ban the traffic from 11 am to 5 pm on Friday. Notably, heavy traffic on the bridge was prohibited for few months due to the need for repair.
