UTKAL DIVAS CELEBRATED IN NAIROBI  
Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Samaj founded by Odia people in East Africa celebrated the Utkal Divas in Nairobi of Kenya with much fanfare. Reciting ‘Bande Utkal Janani’, the State song of Odisha, the members enthralled the audience in a function that was followed by several cultural programmes. They also visited a local orphanage and donated foods, clothes and plastic articles among the inmates. Later in a blood donation camp, 38 units of blood were collected. 

TPCODL LAUNCHES CONSUMER AWARENESS MONTH  
Bhubaneswar: On the Utkal Divas, the TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) launched a programme ‘Apananka Mitra, Apananka Sathire’ to make consumers aware of various consumer-friendly initiatives and facilities introduced by the company to change the power distribution landscape in its licensed area of operation. The awareness programme will be carried out through the month of April. The initiative was inaugurated by TPCODL CEO M Shenbagam in the presence of 20 senior citizens and members of various Resident Welfare Associations in and around Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. 

POONAM NEW FLO BHUBANESWAR CHAIRPERSON  
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Chapter of the FICCI Ladies’ Organisation (FLO) has announced the appointment of its new chairperson, Poonam Mohapatra, for the year 2023-24. The multifaceted Poonam is the director of companies including MGM Agritech & Research Institute. 

LVPEI AMONG TOP 10 GLOBAL EYE INSTITUTIONS  
Bhubaneswar: The LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has been ranked among the top 10 global eye health institutions for its research output by the SCImago rankings agency. The LVPEI is ranked eighth in the world (second in Asia) in the ophthalmology (health) category, making it the only eye health institution from India to be listed among the top ten global eye research institutions. 

SHUBHASHREE, SUNITA ENTHRALL DELHI ODISSI AUDIENCE 
Bhubaneswar: Visushi Kasturi Pattanaik’s young disciples and Sankalp Foundation’s Shubhashree Pradhan and Sunita Biswal staged solo performances, ‘Hansadhwoni Pallavi’ and Abhinaya ‘Mare Bana Dhara Shravana ki’, respectively, in the Delhi Odissi Ustav-2023 organised by the Odissi International Forum and enthralled the audience with the splendour and sublimity of their performances.

DIEGO TO CONTINUE IN ODISHA FC TILL 2025  
Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC has announced that Diego Mauricio has signed a new contract that keeps him at the club till 2025. Mauricio previously joined Odisha FC in the 2020-21 season.

JSW HOLDS HEALTH CAMP; 463 BENEFITTED  
Paradip: A mega healthcare camp was organised at Nuagaon in the proposed area of Ersma block of JSW Foundation. It was held in association with the Jagannath Cancer Aid Foundation. Mainly cancer diagnosis tests were conducted. Dr Shishir Shetty from the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Mumbai gave advice on diagnosis, post-treatment and surgery. As many as 463 patients were given health checkup along with free medicines. Senior Officer of Paradip unit of JSW Utkal Steel N Purohit and Chief Officer of Paradip Project CSR Abhijit Mohanty were present. 

GANJA SEIZED; 4 HELD IN PALLAHARA  
Pallahara: A Pallahara police team led by IIC Parao Tudu seized 52 kg ganja from an Indigo car near the College Square on National Highway-49 on Sunday during patrolling. Another car which was escorting it    was also seized. Four persons identified as Salila Sahoo (33), Deepak Sahoo (22), Babun Behera (27) and Kalia Behera (37) were arrested in connection with the contraband seizure. The approximate market value of the seized ganja is around Rs 4 lakh.  The seized contraband was being transported to Jamshedpur. 

PARTNERSHIP TO DEVELOP A’WADI CENTRES AS PRESCHOOLS  
Bhubaneswar: Sesame Workshop India Trust and LTIMindtree have partnered to enhance early childhood education and provide quality education to children aged 3-6 years who are enrolled in the Anganwadi Centres in Odisha. Their joint initiative "Learn, Play, Grow" has already begun in the districts of Kalahandi and Jharsuguda with the aim of improving Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) delivery in 100 Anganwadi Centres. 

TPNODL COMPLETES 2 YRS OF OPERATIONS  
Baleswar: The TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPNODL) has completed its two years of successful operations. A function at the NOCCI Business Park here was attended by TPNODL Independent Director KN Srivastava and other dignitaries.

MAN GETS 10 YRS IN JAIL FOR KILLING VILLAGER IN S’GARH 
Rourkela: The Additional Sessions Judge, Sundargarh, on Monday sentenced a man of Sundargarh district to rigorous imprisonment for 10 years for killing a man of his village five years ago as the man had not returned his bank passbook. Abhibaran Seth of Jadakudar village had given his SBI savings passbook and some money to Dubraj Kharsel to deposit the same in his (Abhibaran’s) account.
