Liquor trader Yogendra Tiwari, accused in the money laundering case related to liquor scam, was produced in the ED court on Friday after completion of the 14-day remand period. After the appearance, Yogendra Tiwari has been sent to jail in judicial custody. Now Yogendra Tiwari's next appearance will be in ED court on 21st November.
Tiwari was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 19. He is accused of illegal earning through liquor scam and money laundering.
In this case, ED had raided 34 locations simultaneously on August 23. These locations include Yogendra Tiwari’s warehouse located in front of Hotel Siddharth in Deoghar, residence located near Dr Rajeev Pandey Hospital in Bompas Town, M/s Santhal Pargana Builders Private Limited located in D-2 of Harmu Housing Colony and two locations in Jamtara in connection with illegal liquor and sand businesses and associated money laundering.
The ED had earlier argued that Tiwari had illegally stored liquor at the retail shops under his control. He also sold sand without challans. The ED further said that its investigation has revealed that Tiwari and Prem Prakash, a powerbrokers and an accused of illegal mining case, monopolised the liquor business during 2021 under the patronage of highly placed bureaucrats and politicians
Yogendra Tiwari had taken the tender for wholesale liquor in 19 districts of the state with the help of power broker Prem Prakash. ED's investigation has revealed that Yogendra Tiwari is involved in sand smuggling and illegally investing the income earned by buying and selling land in liquor business. ED had raided about three dozen locations of Yogendra Tiwari and his close relatives on August 23. After which Yogendra Tiwari was called to the ED's zonal office in Ranchi for questioning and interrogated several times.

ED raids at Hotwar jail
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths on Monday conducted raided at Birsa Munda Jail Hotwar. The raids continued till evening. Former DC Chhavi Ranjan and power broker Prem Prakash are also lodged in the jail along with many land-related accused. ED had received information that many accused the were talking outside. They were trying to influence evidence and witnesses by using mobile phones.
