Haryana Power Minister Ranjit Singh on Sunday said that the State Government has obtained technical approval worth Rs 157 crore to remove all high-tension wires from residential areas, parks, ponds, and other public places in both rural and urban areas across the State.
The work will be completed at all locations after Diwali, he said.
The Minister said that electricity will be generated through stubble management techniques, and that the State Government will cover the entire cost of providing electricity connections to all hamlets (dhanis) within three kilometers of the outer road of any village (phirni).
For works beyond this distance, 50 per cent of the cost will be borne by the connection holders themselves, and the remaining 50 per cent by the State Government.
Singh, addressing the media persons after Bijli Panchayat meeting organized by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) in Hisar, said that during Bijli Panchayat, representatives from around seven Gram Panchayats in four districts, as well as members of the public from different villages, presented their concerns to the Power Minister.
The Minister directed the officers to promptly provide the pending electricity connections in the dhanis and to prioritize consumer work. He also said that a structured approach is being taken to provide solar tube well connections to more farmers.
In addition, the Power Minister directed the officers to resolve cases of over-billing, release pending tube well connections, curb electricity theft, and address the issue of overloads. He also placed special emphasis on ensuring the safety of high-voltage lines to prevent any untoward incidents.
