MANIT effectively working for implementation of NEP 2020

The Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) is effectively working towards implenetation of NEP 2020 in ths Institute.

The salient features towards implementation are-

Teaching in Hindi is started for First year Under Graduate (UG) students since 2021. One section out of ten sections in B.Tech. first year is exclusively reserved for students opting regional language, Hindi,  as medium of Instruction.

All first year UG Students are offered to opt for any two of the following four electives: NSS, Yoga, Physical Health Education and Life Skill Management.

NCC has been included as an additional credit course for those who want to opt. The selection of the students is done by the NCC officers of the institute.

Four courses namely - Engineering management, Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, Fundamentals of Design and Data Structure are introduced to all the B Tech Programmes since 2020 batch.

Total credits in UG programmes are reduced from 174 to 170 since 2020.

Minor specialization in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering is being offered to B Tech students purely on the basis of merit.

Semester long / yearlong internship is being offered to B Tech/ M Tech students in their VIII Sem / 2nd Year respectively.

The students are permitted to opt Department approved NPTEL courses to fulfill the credit requirements.

Institute has registered for Academic Bank of Credits at National Academic Depositary (NAD). Further process to facilitate credit transfers is in progress.

The degrees of the pass out students are also uploaded at NAD (Digi Locker) since 2022.

Inter Departmental projects, courses and research are encouraged.

Project based learning is added in UG Curriculum.

Exposure to management is introduced in UG Curriculum.

PG (M.Sc.) Courses in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics  have been started since 2021.

Dual Degree B.Tech/M.Tech Course with specialization in Mathematics and Data Science has alsobeen started since 2021.

Professionals from the field of architecture, civil servants, eminent businessmen and famous artists from various fields are being invited to share their experiences with the students.

MOU with NGOs and industries (like BHEL, Lupin, SEDMAP, MAPCOST etc.) for practical classes of vocational courses is signed.

Multiple entry and exit options are provided at UG as well as PG level.

If any student requesting exit option and returns back to complete the program, the duration of prior exit shall not be counted for permitted course duration. However, maximum duration of exit shall not exceed five (5) years.

Research work in the areas: the realm of climate change, population dynamics, management, biotechnology, expanding digital marketplace and rise of machine learning and artificial intelligence, clean drinking water and sanitation, quality technical education, healthcare, improved transportation, air quality, energy and infrastructurein various departments are being carried out.

Research Scholars are encouraged for high quality research by incentives of additional funds to visit national / international conferences.

Seed money grant for research are given to newly joined faculty members.

Faculty members getting externally funded research projects are given additional research scholar from Institute fund.

Students are encouraged to join at-least two clubs for their holistic development, which is awarded as credit based on their performance and social work etc.

Board of Academics (BOAC) is formed in each department involving members from Industry, Academia and Alumni. A meeting of BOAC is organized frequently to update and revise the curriculum.
