SAIL-RDCIS and IISCo Steel Plant (ISP) have jointly developed a wireless control system of paddle feeders from control room location at Raw Material Handling Plant (RMHP) of ISP, which was inaugurated by Manish Raj Gupta, ED (Works), ISP and Sandip Kumar Kar, ED(RDCIS) in the august presence of Sanjoy Parida & CGM(A&E), S. Goswami, CGM(RDCIS-DSP & ISP).
RMHP has four Paddle feeders responsible for extracting material from Track Hopper bunker table and discharging on the underneath conveying system. The paddle feeders are located underground level and as such operation and maintenance at times becomes difficult due to various reasons. To solve this issue a wireless network is established across all four Paddle feeders and the control room which is located at a distance of 3 Kms and One CCTV camera is installed in each paddle feeder to monitor real time operation. All the control signals and video signals are transmitted over this network.
The electrical troubleshooting, programming and even remote operation is now possible from the control room. The implementation of remote monitoring and control systems through wireless communication brings several benefits like Minimization of physical access, Real-time detection & diagnosis of faults. By enabling remote monitoring and control, wireless communication systems can improve overall efficiency and productivity. The Remote control system also enables man-less operation of the paddle feeder thereby improving safety at the workplace.
