Tuesday, 31 January 2023 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that continuous verification of works is necessary for concrete implementation. The information related to the progress should be constantly aligned with the ground realities. Governor Patel was reviewing various programmes of the Health Department at Raj Bhavan today. Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary was also present.

Governor Patel received information about the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan implemented in the National TB Eradication Programme. He said that collective participation in TB eradication efforts should be boosted. Special efforts should be made in Scheduled Tribe areas. A campaign should be launched to obtain the consent of Nikshay Mitra. Door-to-door distribution of publicity materials related to tuberculosis should be ensured in the affected areas.

Governor Patel inquired about the progress of the State Haemoglobinopathy Mission and expressed the need for on-the-ground review of the progress. He said that work of sample study should also be undertaken in the area to authenticate the collected information. He said that for the treatment of sickle cell anaemia, efforts are necessary to spread AYUSH medical methods. Traditional medicine methods should be tested by the AYUSH department. Action should be taken for certification of treatment and medicines. He also called for efforts to bring tribal traditional medicine into the mainstream.

It was informed that the National Filaria Eradication Programme is being implemented in 12 districts of the state. In efforts to eradicate the disease, door-to-door distribution of medicines will be undertaken in all the 12 identified districts on February 10 for mass drug administration. It was told that only after the review of the disease for continuous 4 years, the district is declared free from filaria. Sagar and Chhindwara districts are on the verge of becoming disease free. Regarding the current situation of Covid, it was told that not a single case has been registered in the state.
