Welfare schemes help boost dairy industry

Sunday, 01 October 2023 | Staff Reporter | MAHASAMUND

The National Artificial Insemination Scheme is boosting the dairy industry in Chhattisgarh and helping aspiring livestock owners achieve financial success, an official statement said on Saturday. The Livestock Development Department runs this scheme; it offers free artificial insemination services using semen samples from advanced-breed bulls.

Among the beneficiaries is Suresh Kumar Yadav of Mahasamund district.

The Department inseminated his cow, leading to the birth of a genetically superior heifer -- and more milk output.

Yadav also took advantage of the Department's free vaccination initiative. Thanks to the assistance received from the Livestock Department, Yadav today earns about Rs. 4 lakh annually.
