Bokaro DC leads drive for inclusive voting in district

Sunday, 21 April 2024 | R Sharma | BOKARO

Under the leadership of Bokaro's District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav, the district administration is spearheading a comprehensive drive to bolster voter turnout and inclusivity. With unwavering commitment, Deputy Commissioner Jadhav has directed the utilization of the District Administration's (SVEEP Fund) for a series of awareness programs. These initiatives are meticulously crafted to disseminate the significance of voting across every stratum of society.

Approximately 1,51,732 women from 14,700 self-help groups across 796 villages in the district participated in a voting awareness meeting program. Additionally, parent-teacher meetings were organized in 1560 schools, with around 92,000 parents actively engaging in discussions.

The overarching goal of such extensive initiatives is to educate as many people as possible about the upcoming voting day on May 25th. It's crucial to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded from exercising their democratic right. The district administration is steadfast in its commitment to the mission of "No Voter Left Behind."

All stakeholders, including officials responsible for various sectors, were tagged for the program's successful execution in all blocks. The participants, echoing the slogan "Vote Dene Jana Hai, Apna Farz Nibhana Hai" demonstrated unity in purpose.

The arrangements at polling stations include shelters, clean drinking water, toilets, ramps for the differently-abled, and provision of volunteers with tricycles for elderly voters. Separate queues and priority facilities will be provided for differently-abled and senior citizens at urban polling centers. Also for voter convenience, voter help line apps and C-Vigil apps have been set up to address any voting-related issues. Moreover, alternative documents such as Aadhar card, MGNREGA job card, etc., can be used for voting if the voter ID is unavailable.

Notably those who missed the voter registration deadline have the opportunity to register until April 26, 2024, by filling Form-6. BLOs were present at the ground to distribute Form 6. Any violations of the Model Code of Conduct, such as electioneering in religious places without permission, can be reported via the C-Vigil app.

Overall the proactive measures undertaken by the district administration aim to ensure a smooth and inclusive voting process, upholding the essence of democracy and  setting a commendable precedent for democratic engagement and participation.
