In a bid to uphold the principles of independent, transparent, and fair elections, the Election Commission has introduced a groundbreaking initiative for voters to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct through the C-Vigil mobile app. District Election Officer, Ananya Mittal, emphasised the importance of citizen vigilance in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process during the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Anonymous Reporting: Voters can lodge complaints anonymously through the C-Vigil app, without the obligation to provide personal information. However, those who choose to provide their name and mobile number can monitor the progress of their complaints within the app.
Swift Action: The Election Commission guarantees action within 100 minutes of receiving a complaint through the C-Vigil app. Upon submission, the complaint is promptly forwarded to the nearest Flying Squad Team (FST) for on-site investigation.
Transparent Process: Complaints are processed through a transparent mechanism, involving preliminary verification by the Returning Officer and subsequent decision-making for resolution. The app ensures accountability and efficiency in addressing reported violations.
Types of Complaints: Complaints on various violations of the Model Code of Conduct can be lodged through the C-Vigil app, including but not limited to: Money distribution,
Gift/coupon distribution, Liquor distribution, Unauthorized distribution of campaign materials
Unauthorized gatherings or meetings, Unauthorized use of religious or inflammatory rhetoric
The Election Commission has urged voters to actively participate in safeguarding the electoral process by becoming the "eyes, nose, and ears" of the Commission. Through the C-Vigil app, citizens can contribute to creating a level playing field and ensuring fair elections for all.
