CM fiat to start mining in allocated mineral blocks

Friday, 09 February 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Minister Champai Soren today thoroughly reviewed the progress of the schemes run by the Mining and Geology Department in the Ministry of Jharkhand. The CM said that the mining department is considered a main source of revenue. He directed the officials that those mining blocks which have already been auctioned or allotted should be started as soon as possible. He asked officers to hold a meeting with the company or institution to which the responsibility of mining work has been allotted and get the mining work started soon.

The CM instructed to cancel the allotment by giving show cause to those companies that are not showing interest in mining work. In the meeting, Chief Minister Champai Soren took information from the officials about the progress of work related to auctioning various mineral blocks of the state and directed the officials to complete the auction or allotment process of 10 different mining blocks identified by the Mining Department by the end of February 2024.

The Chief Minister told the officials that all actions related to the auction process of major and minor mineral blocks should be completed by March 2024. Soren directed the officials to immediately start mining work in all those coal blocks which have been auctioned and mining work has not started yet. Keep this in mind that delay in mining work leads to loss of revenue. He directed the officials to hold a meeting with the Principal Secretary Forest Department and complete all the processes for forest clearance of those coal blocks for which forest clearance has not been done, so that the mining work can start as soon as possible.

The CM said that full care should be taken to ensure that forest clearance does not become a hindrance in the auction work of mineral blocks. In the meeting, the CM also received information about the sand ghat auction and directed the officials that the department should continuously monitor so that consumers can get sand easily and at reasonable prices so that people do not face any kind of inconvenience. If any obstacle is arising in the tender process of Balughat, it should be resolved soon. Soren directed the officials to make appointment on contract basis in view of the sanctioned post of Geologist in the Mining Department and send requisition to JPSC for regular appointment.

State Chief Secretary L. Khyangte, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Secretary of Mining Department Abu Bakar Siddiqui, Secretary of Industries Department Jitendra Kumar Singh, Director Mining Shashi Ranjan and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
