A herd of elephants trampled a 52 years old man to death while he was collecting Mahua in the forest near Chirka village under Chiniya police station area, in the early morning on Saturday.

After this uproar by the elephants in the early morning, there was chaos in the forest. Other people collecting Mahua in the forest ran away out of fear. People are angry with this incident. People blocked the road for two hours by keeping the dead body on the road. It should be noted that people suffering from the terror of elephants are angry with the forest department. The forest department immediately gave Rs 10,000 to the family of the deceased for the cremation. Four lakh rupees compensation will be given after completing the departmental process.

Dashrath Singh of Chirka village of China forest area had gone to collect Mahua at Dakuldah place in the forest next to Chirka village at 5 am on Saturday morning like usual days.
