Additional Chief Secretary for Energy, Neeraj Mandloi, inspected the State Load Despatch Center located at the Nayagaon headquarters of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) in Jabalpur.
During the inspection, Mandloi sought information regarding the cybersecurity of the State Load Despatch Centre.
He was informed that the cybersecurity benchmarks followed by MP Transco have been emulated at the national level by the Central Electricity Authority. The load despatch centres of other states have been advised to comply with these processes.
Senior officials informed Mandloi of the technology-oriented real-time monitoring of the power system conducted at the Load Despatch Center. The centre handles data from substations, maintains grid discipline, studies load patterns, and performs energy accounting.
Mandloi apprised himself of open access and provided necessary instructions. He also sought details on disaster preparedness in the event of a power crisis.
Officials informed the bureaucrat of the reliability of the system and arrangements for adverse situations, which are tested periodically through mock drills and landing schemes.
Mandloi discussed power scheduling to maintain the power system in Madhya Pradesh, coordination with power generation houses, and power flow in 400 kV transmission lines. He also discussed the challenges of integrating increasing solar energy production with the grid.
Mandloi praised the world-class systems and functioning of the centre, one of the best in the country. He said that managing such a complex system with accuracy 24/7 is a highly challenging task. Mandloi was accompanied by the Managing Director of MP Transco, Sunil Tiwari, Chief Engineer of the State Load Despatch Centre, Pradeep Sachan, and other senior officials during the inspection.
