Sunday, 11 February 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

An orientation program was organized on Saturday for the students pursuing PG courses in various departments of Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Center (BMHRC). Dean Academics Dr Rajneesh Joshi attended the program as the guest of honor whereas Director In-charge,  BMHRC, Dr Manisha Shrivastava and Registrar of Madhya Pradesh Paramedical Council, Sheloj Joshi were present as special guests.

First of all, Dr Surbhi Sahay, Associate Dean (Academics) of BMHRC, informed the invited guests and students about the various postgraduate courses running in BMHRC and the facilities available here. Dr. Manisha Shrivastava, Director In-charge , BMHRC, highlighted that “the facilities provided to the students in BMHRC are being increased. Students have high expectations from us and we are confident that we will live up to the expectations of the students. Students should complete their studies without any stress. There will be no problem in their career development. Try to do your best work in the course in which you have taken admission”.Addressing the PG students, Dr Rajneesh Joshi informed  that while doing PG, you will also have to do a research project and before starting research work, it is important  to understand its basic principles.

There are four pillars of a research project- Autonomy, non-maleficence, beneficence and legality.  First of all, get the consent of the patients being included in the  research. Keep the language of the consent form simple so that it can be  understood easily. Put yourself in the patient's place and make decisions.

Don't hide any information from them regarding your research. Be sure to inform the patient about the benefits of the treatment and the risks associated with it. Also make sure that he or she is mentally capable of participating in the research. Do not reveal personal information of patients involved in research and also assure them of this. Make sure that your research does not harm any patient's health. Assess thoroughly whether the treatment being given in connection with the research can be of any benefit to him or not. Finally, check whether the research work you are doing is correct from the point of view of law or not. No one's rights should be violated by it.The special guest of the program, Sheloj Joshi told the  students that they are very fortunate that they are doing their post graduate course in BMHRC.
