PM Kusum Yojana: 1107 applications received against the target of 573 for the scheme

Monday, 01 July 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

In the meeting held at the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal reviewed the applications received and the progress of PM-Kusum Yojana in the district. Against the target of 573, 1107 verified applications have been received from the blocks for this scheme, which aims to provide solar pump sets to farmers on subsidy for irrigation. The District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner directed the District Agriculture Officer to cover the eligible beneficiaries under the scheme after examining all the applications.

On this occasion, the District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner said that there are immense possibilities in the agricultural sector in the district, but due to a lack of adequate irrigation facilities, farmers are not able to farm properly. In such a situation, this scheme will be very effective, as it will provide electricity for irrigation and meet daily needs. Farmers will no longer have to depend on rainwater for farming and can produce Rabi and Kharif crops, as well as vegetables, flowers, and other products in their fields every year. Farmers will greatly benefit from the scheme, as they will be relieved from the high costs of fuel and electricity, reducing their agricultural expenses and increasing their income.

To avail of the benefits of the scheme, farmers will need to provide an identity card, residential certificate, land receipt, and a declaration attested by a notary. Only one person in a family will be eligible for the scheme.

The District Agriculture Officer stated that those farmers whose applications have been approved should ensure to make their contributions by visiting the online portal.
